Knowing the Type of Fuel for Your Car

There are plenty of drivers that still choose what fuel the car runs on. Your decisions are solely based on your preferences. Still, if you're interested in buying a new car, then you might wonder what makes them different from each other.
Unleaded Gasoline
Unleaded gasoline, otherwise known as petrol or gas, is generally cheaper than the other two fuels despite it fluctuating widely. Most of the time, drivers prefer this as a more cost-effective option.

However, you won't save as much if you keep on purchasing premium gasoline. Although it's efficient with regards to prolonging engine life, the higher octane grade isn't that necessary for most vehicles.

Diesel
One similarity between diesel and regular gasoline is that both are made from crude oil distillation. For you to purchase the fuel, your vehicle needs to be designed for diesel consumption. Cars and trucks powered by diesel have 30% better mileage than those that run on unleaded gasoline. Unfortunately, it's not an environmental advantage since there are still things to consider.

Diesel-powered vehicles produce the most emissions on the road. However, they have a higher greenhouse gas production than regular gas, which makes them more efficient. It also produces lesser pollutants for up to 20% making it a decent tradeoff.

Ethanol
Compared to diesel and unleaded fuel, ethanol is the most environmentally friendly. Vehicles emit fewer harmful emissions when running on ethanol than those that use regular gasoline or diesel. Also, ethanol is produced from corn, making it a useful renewable source of energy. Because there is a resupply of corn crops every year, ethanol production is limitless.

The fuel industry finds ethanol conventional, and that there are plenty of gas companies that combine it with regular gasoline. However, your car will need to have the proper engine for flexible-fuel to utilize gasoline and ethanol completely.

Conclusion

When choosing which car to purchase, knowing what type of fuel it needs is essential. Because vehicles are an excellent investment, having the right auto insurance plan will save you from extra car damage expenses.
